SAMBO Development in IndonesiaNot much is known about the development of sambo in Indonesia.
The base club for the SAMBO Development was The Sandro Academy managed by Subhan Prasandra (better known in Judo circles by the nickname Sandro). Today he is one of the main SAMBO promoters in Indonesia, and is also the Deputy Vice President of Atheletes Development (BINPRES) of the Indonesia SAMBO Federation (PP PERSAMBI) and the organizer of many martial arts tournaments. Our team competed in the World Martial Arts Mastership (WOMAM 2016). We saw a lot of interesting fights in the athletes' performance. We're especially pleased with the large number of talented young athletes who have come to SAMBO from other martial arts, " I am glad that very soon, almost all of these Sambist from Asia will come to Indonesia to attend the Asian Games to be held in Jakarta - Palembang". Subhan said at the tournament. He also said the Indonesia SAMBO Championships would be held in October or November 2016, and based on the results, the team for the World Championships in Bulgaria would be formed.
He noted that in recent years, more and more Indonesian sambists (SAMBO players) have been competing at international tournaments, and their results are getting better. SAMBO is also becoming extremely popular in Indonesia. "Personally, I've always liked Russia, and this motivated me to get involved in SAMBO. As soon as I learned of the opportunity to practice SAMBO in Indonesia, I immediately associated it with Russia. I understand what it means – that I have a chance to get involved with this country. I dove into the sport without hesitation and started practicing SAMBO," Subhan said. “I'd really like to go to Russia, but so far I haven't been able to. My idol, my hero is Fedor Emelianenko, I always watch and review all his SAMBO and mixed martial arts fights. My main dream is to come to Russia and see Fedor Emelianenko fight. I hope I'll soon be able to do that." Integrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in the wind or change with the weather. It is your inner image of yourself, and if you look in there and see a man who won't cheat, then you know he never will |
SAMBO included in the 2018 Asian GamesSAMBO is included in the program of the 2018 Asian Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. The decision to include SAMBO in the program of the Asian Games was announced at a press briefing held by representatives of national Olympic Committees in Bangkok on May 19.
"Inclusion of our sport in the program of the Asian Games is not only a great success for the International SAMBO Federation, but also an indication that we're developing in the right direction and an added incentive for further work. The Asian continent is a part of the world where the sport is growing rapidly today. I'm glad that SAMBO is in the mainstream in Asia. We worked hard, and this is the result. I would like to acknowledge the contribution of President of the Asian SAMBO Union Alamzhon Mullaev to this success. He's a real SAMBO fan. Our success on the Asian continent is a great achievement for him and his team. Of course, the inclusion of SAMBO in the program of the Asian Games is another big plus for our efforts to include SAMBO in the global Olympic family," said FIAS President Vasily Shestakov. Forty-five countries participate in the Asian Games. The Olympic Council of Asia made the decision to hold the 2018 Games in Indonesia on September 19, 2014. The program of the Asian Games includes 28 Olympic and 8 non-Olympic sports. One or two other sports may still be added, depending on the sports program of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. SAMBO is also included in the program of the 5th Asian Beach Games (Da Nang, Vietnam, 2016) and the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 2017).
